Becoming a Member

For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another.–Romans 12:4-5.

All are welcome to worship with us and fully participate in the worship experience!  We trust that you have found St. Luke’s to be a welcoming parish, where you can grow in your relationship to Christ and in your service to others.  If you are interested in exploring membership at St. Luke's, the following information should prove helpful.

Membership and Baptism

Membership at St. Luke’s is open to all baptized Christians.

Whether you were baptized in the Episcopal Church or in another Christian denomination, you are welcome to join St. Luke’s.

For those who have not yet been baptized:
Baptism symbolizes your entrance into the Christian faith and community and is the first step in becoming a member of our parish.  Please consider attending our Baptism Preparation Class which is offered several times a year and is designed especially for those who are considering baptism.  Those who complete the class may then be baptized at an appropriate service at St. Luke’s. Contact Rev. Patty for more information on Baptism.

For baptized Christians seeking membership:

By Transfer of Membership:
If you were confirmed in another church, or have been a member of another church, please contact Rev. Patty Mouer to request that your Letter of Membership be transferred here. You will need to provide the church name and city, the approximate date of your confirmation, and/or the approximate dates of your membership at your previous church.

By Confirmation, Reception, or Reaffirmation
Members of the church who were baptized as infants may choose to affirm their faith as adults through the rite of confirmation by the Bishop. In addition, those who have been confirmed in other denominations by a bishop in the historic succession (Roman Catholic, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, or Eastern Orthodox) may be received into the Episcopal Church by the Bishop. Those who have been baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal Church (or any member church in the Anglican Communion) and wish to recommit themselves to the life of faith may choose to reaffirm their baptismal covenant with the Bishop.

Please contact Rev. Patty Mouer at 254-2133 or e-mail: stlukeschurch@charter.net for further information on Confirmation, Reception or Reaffirmation.
